Yesterday, I had a bit of a revelation while looking at some painting work I'd done about ten years ago for my Mom. I've always discounted my talent as "evolving," meaning to me that I was never very good, but I'm getting better. This work was VERY good, and I'd forgotten doing it. I forget a lot of my art. I slip into this fugue state and pump it out, and don't remember creating it, or what it looks like. I'm always surprised to see my earlier work. Always.
Anyway, such a good day today! My folks came up and we went to breakfast, where I witnessed the spectacle of a typical Polo family. Dad looked *sincerely* like a serial killer, and unkempt horror-show lumpy Mom of Doom a) smashed her baby's head into the back of the booth and then berated him for crying and b) fed him a large bowl of biscuits and gravy. He was painted in it. I told my parents as we left, "There's the future President of the United States. His future is GOLDEN." Oh, and the cats mating by my parents' car...BONUS!
So we came home, watched some "Office" that I'd DVR'd for them, then they went home. Since they left at 1:00, I've almost finished the ink work on
